Windows built for the Lowcountry
Charleston is hard on windows. Long humid summers, salt air, hard afternoon sun and hurricane season all work against frames, seals and hardware. Builder-grade units that would last thirty years in a mild climate often fog, warp or leak here in fifteen.
We size every window to its opening, choose glass for the direction it faces, and flash and seal it so water stays out. That is what makes a replacement window last in this climate, more than any brand name.
Window styles we install
Every style below is custom made to your openings and available in vinyl, fiberglass, composite or wood-clad frames.
- Double-hung windows, the classic Charleston sash, both sashes tilt in for cleaning
- Casement windows that crank open for full ventilation and seal tight when closed
- Awning windows that open from the bottom and shed rain while open
- Picture windows for marsh, river and garden views
- Sliding windows for wide, short openings and easy operation
- Bay and bow windows that add light, depth and seating
- Specialty shapes: arches, half-rounds, transoms and custom geometry
Charleston-specific options
- Impact and hurricane windows with laminated glass for wind-borne debris zones
- Historic window replacement that matches sash proportions and muntin patterns for BAR review
- Energy-efficient glass with low solar heat gain for south and west exposures
Insert or full-frame replacement
An insert replacement sets a new window inside the existing frame. It keeps your interior trim and exterior casing, goes in quickly and costs less. It works when the existing frame is square, dry and solid.
A full-frame replacement removes the old window down to the rough opening. We use it when there is rot, water damage or a poorly flashed original install, and whenever the window size or style is changing. In older Charleston homes we often find damage behind the trim, and we tell you before we close it up.
How a project works
- Free in-home visit. We look at every opening, talk through styles and glass, and leave you a written estimate.
- Precise measure. Each opening is measured and checked for square, level and rot.
- Custom build. Windows are made to order, usually four to eight weeks depending on product.
- Installation. Most homes are finished in one to three days, with drop cloths down and old units hauled away.
- Walkthrough. We show you how each window operates, cleans and locks, and register the warranty.
Pricing at a glance
Most Charleston homeowners pay between $750 and $2,000 per window installed, depending on frame material, size, glass and whether impact rating is needed. See the full window replacement cost guide for 2026 numbers.
Common questions
How long does window replacement take?
Ordering usually takes four to eight weeks for custom windows. Installation for a typical home of 12 to 20 windows takes one to three days.
Do I need a permit to replace windows in Charleston?
Many window replacements need a building permit, and homes in historic districts or HOA communities may also need design approval. We handle the permit and help prepare any review submittal.
Which window material is best for Charleston?
Quality vinyl is the best value for most homes. Fiberglass and composite hold up better to heat and keep slimmer profiles. Wood-clad is the right call for historic homes and higher-end projects.
Can you replace just a few windows?
Yes. We do single windows, one side of the house or the whole home.
Where we work
We install windows across Charleston and nearby communities, including Downtown Charleston, West Ashley, James Island, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Daniel Island and more.
