Storm Door Installation in Charleston

A storm door adds a layer between your entry door and the weather, and lets you open the house to a breeze without letting the bugs in. It also protects a wood or painted front door from sun and rain.

Styles

  • Full-view glass with an interchangeable screen
  • Retractable screen doors that hide the screen when not in use
  • Ventilating doors with a sliding glass panel
  • Security storm doors with heavier frames and locks

Good to know

Full-glass storm doors over a dark-colored entry door in direct sun can trap heat, which may damage the entry door finish. We'll advise on venting or a screen option for sunny exposures. A storm door is not a substitute for an impact-rated door in a wind-borne debris zone.

Installation

We fit the storm door to the existing entry trim, set the closer and latch, and check that it doesn't interfere with the main door's hardware. If the entry door itself is failing, see entry door replacement.

Common questions

How much does a storm door cost?

Most storm doors run $500 to $1,500 installed, depending on style and hardware.

Do storm doors save energy?

They add a little insulation and reduce drafts, but their main benefits are protection for the entry door and ventilation.
